The idea of branded entertainment is great - but not if it's contrived - which it's likely to be if it's generated by corporate. People won't respond to that kind of tripe.
An ad agency is a step in the right direction - but not the best option in my opinion.
What I think will produce the best entertainment is what I call Grassroots Branded Entertainment. It's Pomplamoose. Natural entertainers out there, doing interesting things will get noticed. At that point, sponsors can come in and help them keep the ball rolling. The audience, who are no doubt someone's current or prospective customer, will appreciate the backing and will reciprocate accordingly. That's the win-win.
Grassroots Branded Entertainment is the most genuine, least contrived approach to the growing phenomenon of branded entertainment.
Sure - many self-made entertainers out there may lack the required tact and business acumen to fill the bill - but then again, others are. For instance, my group, Creaticle Entertainment Group is one that seeks to perform grassroots entertainment that's palatable for business sponsorships. We've got a good crossover group and we hope to find a home in this space so we can entertain online and earn some spending money in the process.
